James Mitchell

James is a devoted criminal defence barrister. He is an accredited Criminal Law Specialist with the Law Institute of Victoria, as well as a graduate of the Deryl Dantzler Trial Practice Institute in the USA.

James is interested in all areas of criminal law, and is passionate about access to justice and police accountability.

James completed his postgraduate law degree at Monash University. Before coming to the Bar, he worked his way up as a solicitor to become a senior lawyer at a specialised criminal law firm in Melbourne.

Through his career in criminal law, James has forged a strong reputation as a diligent and skilled advocate within Victoria’s criminal legal community.
